Sa mga katugangang Bicolano, LADLAD is a national organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Filipinos.

BACKGROUNDER:
LADLAD suppose to run for party-list elections for Congress in the coming May 2010 elections. Thus, it is bound to make history. It will be the first political party composed of LGBT Filipinos that will claim and reclaim the rights we have lost from centuries of homophobia and discrimination. The dreams ends right here.

COMELEC STAND:
Comelec disqualified LADLAD: On Nov. 11, Ferrer denied the petition of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group Ang Ladlad for recognition as a sectoral party under the party-list system. Along with Commissioners Luencito Tagle and Elias Yusoph, Ferrer presided over a decision that declared homosexuality a state that offended religious morality, and announced it is the Comelec’s duty “to protect the youth from moral and spiritual degradation.”

COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHT STAND:
Reacting to the COMELEC ruling, the Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights, Atty. Leila M. De Lima said, “Homosexuality is not a counterculture. It is part of the diversity of Philippine culture. Homosexuals are part of the Filipino family and unavoidably must be part of our politics.”

THE LAW:
The Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR), states that, “All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination (Article 7, UDHR).”

The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) provides, “All persons are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to the equal protection of the law. In this respect, the law shall prohibit any discrimination and guarantee to all persons equal and effective protection against discrimination on any ground such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status (Article 26, ICCPR)”.

Is ‘ANG LADLAD’ really advocates sexual immorality?

Is LADLAD discriminated against their right to participate as an organization in the party list elections, thereby violating the right against discrimination and their right to be voted for?

Is being on the third sex does Equate to Immorality?

Does the Comelec decision basis for disqualification of any party-list group is religious affiliation?

There is or can be no basis in law to deny the registration of the party, directly or indirectly, on the grounds of homosexuality, much less on homosexuality equated to immorality. To make assertions based on their homosexuality is patently discriminatory.

Why not just stand up as a Filipino citizen with noble intentions to serve the people. You can do it without wagging your tag, as gay, lesbians or what have you. If you believe you cant do it, then your objectives is tainted with selfish motive....

Marhay na aldaw saindo gabos. Maray na aldow kaninyo ngamin

Ok lang basta gumawa ng written agreement na hindi pwede i-legalize or even i-promote sa mga tao na mag-engage sa homosexual activity.

'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.....

I read somewhere that they are well represented in Congress already. I really question their ulterior motive. Why a political party whose main objective is to promote their promiscuous lifestyle? I call it Special Interest Group.

I concur with manoy mikey's statement. It is not through the environmental influences but it is actually hormonal imbalance. Mothers who are taking contraceptive pills can actually be the reason. Pills contained female hormones (estrogen) that can be taken by the child inside the womb and when they come out they have already more female hormones in the body. It has nothing to do of being immoral. Immorality on the other hand, we as adults know that numerous factors affect the determination of what is acceptable and what is not. Moral judgement should be based on specific circumstances, legal considerations and own personal code of ethics. LADLAD cannot be judged as immoral without those basis. They have the same lawful rights as everybody else.
